Question

What is index sorting?

Answer

Index sorting is an advanced flow cytometry feature that allows recording detailed information on each single sorted cell. This function provides phenotypic data for every cell collected into a 96-well plate. The information includes light scatter and median fluorescence intensity (MFI) values for each fluorescence channel. Index sorting enables tracking each sorted cell and linking its phenotype to gene expression profiles if analyzed after sorting. To analyze index sorting data, the .fcs files can be processed using FlowJo software, available in the facility on a dedicated workstation.
