The BD FACS Aria III cell sorter is based on patented technologies that enable cell separation for a wide range of research applications. The sensitivity of the BD FACS Aria III is 85 MESF for FITC and 29 MESF for PE. The system supports a maximum sample acquisition speed of 70,000 events per second.
The instrument available in the facility is equipped with five lasers: 355, 405, 488, 561, and 633 nm, allowing the simultaneous measurement of up to 18 colors.
The FACSDiva software allows users to refine both the analysis and sorting strategies with a wide range of features. Up to four populations can be sorted simultaneously, and the system allows cell sorting in different modes (e.g., purity, yield) with temperature control settings based on the characteristics of the cells. It is also possible to perform single-cell sorting into 96-well plates, and the recent acquisition of a FlowJo portal license allows for index sorting analysis, which can be integrated with genetic analysis.
The sorter is equipped with four different nozzles (70, 85, 100, and 130 µm), which can be selected based on cell size.
