Description
X-ray crystallography uses experimental X-ray diffraction data from a single crystal to reconstruct a three-dimensional view of the crystal structure at the atomic level, in which the geometrical relations among atoms, molecules or ions occurring in the crystal can be directly observed.
The laboratory performs single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments at ambient conditions on inorganic, organic (small-molecule) or organometallic crystals. Crystalline structure is usually solved and refined by the laboratory staff, which provides the result of the crystallographic study as cif file.
