Description
The Scientific Prototyping Laboratory is dedicated to the design and construction of prototypes required for scientific experimentation.
To address the highly interdisciplinary nature of research, the laboratory relies not only on its own technical staff, but also on associated staff from other scientific departments of the University of Pavia.
Activities are carried out at the electronics laboratory and mechanical workshop of the Centro Grandi Strumenti and the Pavia division of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN).
Multidisciplinarity
The multidisciplinary nature of the service is guaranteed by the laboratories it is composed of:
Collaborations
The Prototyping Laboratory works in close cooperation with the Electronics Service Laboratory and the Mechanical Workshop of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), Pavia division.
In addition to supporting local research projects, the laboratory is engaged in high-profile collaborations with internationally renowned institutions such as CERN in Geneva and the CNAO Foundation.
The Laboratory also provides direct operational support at CERN, where it plays a key role in the muon spectrometer of the ATLAS experiment. Specifically, it is involved in technical coordination, as well as the design, installation, and maintenance of power supply, interlock, and monitoring systems.
