Spectroscopy

"The truth is always found in simplicity, never in confusion." - Isaac Newton

Description

The Spectroscopy Laboratory offers its services within the field of biochemical studies. It is equipped with a Spectropolarimeter and a Spectrofluorimeter.

The Spectropolarimeter is designed for analyzing the structural properties of biomolecules and optically active compounds, for determining the secondary structure of proteins (α-helix, β-sheet, random coil) and for studying conformational changes in proteins during interactions with substances (inhibitors, substrate analogs, etc.) or as a result of them (e.g., denaturing agents).

The Spectrofluorimeter is used to study the light emitted by a sample when excited by a source of ultraviolet or visible light. The analysis of fluorescence emission spectra allows for the identification and quantification of fluorescent molecules present in a sample.
